Prof. Alok Gupta started his career in the field of Mycology and Plant Pathology and worked extensively on pesticide resistance in fungi against systemic fungicides. He later joined Government and shifted his focus on Production & Supply Chain Management of Agri-produce, Rural and Agribusiness Management.
Professor Gupta has 41 years of work experience out of which he has had distinguished service in multinationals and Government for 35 years at various senior positions and retired in 2019. He has had a very enriching experience of working for 20 long years with the European Community, the World Bank and other National and International Developmental / Donor Agencies, in strengthening Agricultural Production, Agri-business Management, Sodic Land and Ravine Reclamation, Technology Transfer, Training and Skill Upgradation of farmers,and Human Resource Development. He has long practical work experience in the field of Production, Supply Chain Management, Marketing of Agricultural produce and Public Administration.
Immediately after retiring from the Government in 2019, Prof. Gupta joined Sharda University as Adjunct Professor in the Department of Agriculture, School of Basic Sciences and Research. Prof. Gupta has been assigned various important administrative assignments since then as OSD of the School of Engineering & Technology, establishing the first private International University in Andijan, Sharda University, Uzbekistan, as Registrar/ Vice Rector by the Management along with his teaching and research assignments over the last three years. Other than holding the post of Professor in Sharda School of Agricultural Sciences, Prof. Gupta is presently also holding the post of the Chief Proctor of the University responsible for maintaining student discipline in the University.
