About the Programme
MD in Anaesthesia at Sharda University is a three-year postgraduate programme that includes the study of managing medications provided to the patients either by injection or by inhalation that cause a temporary state of loss of consciousness or awareness, thus blocking operative pain and suffering. The programme prepares students for administering drugs that reduce or eliminate chronic pain for patients of all ages keeping all risk factors in mind, demonstrate skills in ethical, medical, and legal aspects related to anesthesiology, and develop efficiency in laboratory procedures to manage critically ill patients.
During the programme, students learn about areas such as ambulatory anaesthesia, cardiothoracic anesthesiology, pediatric anesthesiology, neuro anaesthesia, obstetrical anesthesiology and pain management. The programme not only focuses on the medicinal aspect regarding anaesthesia but also deals with body consequences of medical treatment. Some of the topics included in the MD Anaesthesia curriculum are Human Anatomy and Physiology, Pharmacology, Pathophysiology of various diseases and Perioperative Anaesthesia management.
