About the Programme

The programme comprises core theory along with laboratory course as well as one ability enhancement elective (AEEC) and compulsory (AECC) such as Computer Science and Basic/Intermediate English respectively. In addition the programme also focuses on two Generic electives (GE) offered in Chemistry and Mathematics. To prepare students for the research field the programme also offers a research project on an individual basis in final semesters as a discipline-specific elective (DSE) too.

Programme Educational Objectives (PEO)

  • PEO1:  Providing distinctive and relevant knowledge in Biochemistry to students through innovative teaching methods.
  • PEO2: Motivating young minds to acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills in diversified disciplines of Biochemistry and empowering them with problem-solving skills through knowledge acquired.
  • PEO3: Encouraging interdisciplinary research in collaboration with National/ International laboratories/institutes/research and technology organizations.
  • PEO4: Inculcating scholarly research aptitude and innovative approach among students.
  • PEO5: Imparting ethical understanding about safe handling of chemicals and various issues related to chemical/biochemical compounds and processes.
  • PEO6: Applying Biochemistry as an integral approach to address environmental and societal issues.
  • PEO7: Providing education to bridge the research gaps through various advanced tools and techniques.

Program Outcomes (PO’s)

  • PO1: Knowledge- Students will be able to gain an in-depth and detailed functional knowledge of the fundamental concepts and experimental methods of biochemistry and allied sciences
  • PO2:  Proficiency- Students will demonstrate competence in the analysis and critique of scholarly work in their area of expertise in biochemistry
  • PO3:  Research- Students will demonstrate the academic skills necessary to take up higher education on core or interdisciplinary research issues.
  • PO4:  Kills- Students will be able to design, conduct, analyze, and interpret data for a biochemistry and interdisciplinary research study 
  • PO5:  Communication- Students will be capable to demonstrate their skills necessary for scientific communication/ oral and poster presentation/ Journal club / mini projects / Dissertation.
  • PO6:  Responsibility- Students shall have a clear understanding of professional and ethical responsibility
