About the Programme

The Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) is an undergraduate professional programme designed to prepare competent physiotherapists with comprehensive knowledge and clinical skills in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of physical dysfunction and movement disorders. A physiotherapist is a healthcare professional trained to conduct thorough clinical examinations and relevant investigations to evaluate movement impairments, functional limitations, disability, and pain resulting from trauma, disease, or congenital conditions. Physiotherapists utilize evidence-based physical modalities such as therapeutic exercise, manual therapy (mobilization and manipulation), electrotherapy, and thermal agents to promote healing, restore function, and enhance overall physical well-being. The scope of physiotherapy practice includes prevention, health promotion, fitness enhancement, rehabilitation, and patient education. As per the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP) Act, 2021, a physiotherapist is qualified to practice independently or as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, with a minimum qualification of a baccalaureate degree in physiotherapy.

Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) is a five-year undergraduate programme designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of basic sciences and evidence-based physiotherapy practice. The programme integrates comprehensive theoretical knowledge with extensive clinical training to develop competent and ethical healthcare professionals. It imparts practical expertise in core subjects such as Exercise Therapy, Electrotherapy, Orthopedics and Traumatology, etc. followed in programme structure. The programme emphasizes assessment, diagnosis, prevention, and rehabilitation of movement dysfunction to restore functional independence and promote optimal health. Practical and clinical postings ensure hands-on exposure to patient evaluation, clinical reasoning, and evidence-based treatment planning. The curriculum is structured in accordance with the guidelines of the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP) Act, 2021. Upon successful completion of the academic coursework, students must undergo a compulsory one-year clinical internship, providing comprehensive supervised training and preparing them for independent practice or multidisciplinary healthcare settings.
