An alumnus from the prestigious AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Prof (Dr) Rohit Punga currently represents Delhi NCR state to the national body of Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons of India (AOMSI) since 2019. He has been the Vice President of the Delhi NCR State Chapter of AOMSI from 2018 -19. An orator of national repute has widely lectured across the country on Medical emergencies, Facial reconstruction in trauma, Facial Deformities and TM Joint at various platforms including the IDA of various states and AOMSI. He practices the full scope of Maxillofacial surgery ranging from Distraction Osteogenesis, Orthognathic Surgery, Open surgery for TM Joint, Cleft Surgeries, Craniofacial trauma and Oral Oncology. He has worked with few of the best corporate hospitals of Delhi NCR as Consultant for Maxillofacial Surgery. He has also attended various conferences and hands on workshops on dental implants and advanced grafting procedures including the Global Implantology week at the New York University, USA in 2019. He has organized a 3-day Live Surgical International Workshop on Rhinoplasty & Facial aesthetics in 2018 at Artemis Hospital, Gurgaon. He has been a Post Graduate Examiner since 2016 for West Bengal University of Health Sciences, Rajasthan University, and Pt BD Sharma UHS. He has 20 publications to his credit and has moderated and chaired various sessions at conferences & workshops. His passion for surgery made him take the lead in restarting maxillofacial infection and trauma surgery during the COVID Pandemic at SGT University in April 2020 using respirators & PPEs for the first time. He also attended a week-long FDP on Effective Online Teaching from the prestigious Indian Institute of Management in July 2020 to update himself on effectively teaching students in this time of crisis. He recently conceptualized and moderated the first session on Evidence Based Case Discussions on Condylar Trauma conducted by Delhi AOMSI for Consultants. Academicians and Post Graduates on 1st Nov 2020. He has been Invited Faculty for AOMSI national conference in 2021 at Mangalore, 2022 at Coimbatore, AOCMF faculty in Delhi in 2018, 2021 and at AOCMF Maxillofacial Skills Training programme at AIIMS New Delhi in August 2022.
