About

Dr. Rakesh Kumar is working as a HoD and Professor at Sharda University. Earlier, he served as Scientist ‘G & Head at National Institute of Hydrology, Roorkee. He obtained B.E. Civil Eng., M.E. Hydraulics & Irrigation Eng. and Ph.D. in Hydrology from IIT, Roorkee. Received trainings at UC, Davis, USA; DHI, Denmark; ICHARM, Japan and IHE, Netherlands. He has completed 54 consultancies of Rs. 16 crores; published more than 300 research papers and received 10 awards. He has made 20 foreign visits for trainings, conferences and meetings under UNDP, World Bank, UNESCO, European Union, AWCI, ADPHT projects.

  • Worked as Nodal Officer for NIH for the World Bank Funded Hydrology Project-II during 2006 to 2014; wherein DSS(P) was developed and implemented in six Central Agencies and nine States and an expenditure of Rs. 46.82 crore was incurred for the NIH component of the project. 
  • Worked as Member-Secretary of Indian National Committee for Intergovernmental Hydrological Program (INIHP) of UNESCO.
