Dr. Bau earned his PhD in Mathematics from the University of Otago, New Zealand, in 1991, following an MSc in Mathematics with Distinction in 1988 from the same institution. His foundational education includes a BSc in Mathematics from the National Teachers College of Inner Mongolia, China, completed in 1984.
Spanning over four decades, Dr. Bau's academic career includes diverse roles across continents. He has held teaching and research positions at institutions such as Inner Mongolia Finance and Economics College (China), Massey University (New Zealand), Fuzhou University (China), and the University of the Witwatersrand (South Africa). His leadership roles include Vice Director of the Center of Discrete Mathematics at Fuzhou University and Chairmanship of the Department of Statistics at Inner Mongolia Finance and Economics College.
An expert in combinatorial mathematics, Dr. Bau has made significant contributions to subgraph existence, graph factorization, pancyclic graphs, and random regular graphs. His research interests also extend to the geometry of surfaces, software development for mathematical applications, and exploring classical Chinese and Greek literature.
Dr. Bau is a lifetime member of the Australasian Combinatorial Mathematics Society and a fellow of the Institute of Combinatorics and Its Applications. He has been a pivotal figure in academic conferences worldwide, delivering invited talks and serving on organizing committees. As a mentor, he has supervised numerous MSc and PhD students, shaping the next generation of mathematicians.
A prolific researcher, Dr. Baus contributions to discrete mathematics and graph theory have earned him multiple national and international research grants, recognizing his global impact in the mathematical sciences.
