School of Languages & Culture, Sharda University organized an event called “An Interaction by Representatives from Korean Cultural Center India, New Delhi” on 6th April 2015, PGDM Building
The team from KCC interacted with the students, from the university, briefly showcasing Korea and its Culture through a short video. This was followed by a presentation on Korean language, how it is gaining prominence and has become one of the top 10 searched languages.
The main question during the session was why Korean language is important and how it can be learned. From personal experience, Mentioning “Korean” under your CV’s “Language Skills” section is a great interview talking point, and a sure-fire way to gain brownie points.
With a dynamic economy, high-profile companies like Samsung, LG, Hyundai , Lotte & SK Telecom , and an ever-growing global presence, Korea and its native language have high demand in the Job Market.
Foreign language experts don a variety of roles depending upon their skills and experience as well as the job. Here are some of the professions you can look for:
• Diplomatic Service Professional
• Foreign Language Trainer
• Translator for MNCs and Government Organizations
• Research Associate
• Interpreter
• Tourist Guide
• Air Hostess or Flight Steward
• Attendant at hotels
• Freelance Writer, Translator, Interpreter
• Public Relation Officer
There are intermediate beginners and advanced level courses.
The students were also informed about scholarships that the Korean government provides for students each year. The KCC representatives also mentioned about placement assistance to students having knowledge of Korean language in firms like Samsung,Hyundai,LG to name a few.
Lastly, it was announced that The School of Languages & Culture will be offering a certificate course in Korean language from the following semester. Apart from this, students who have a compulsory foreign language in their curriculum could also take up Korean language.
