Effective communication is a powerful tool to convince, compel and persuade people.
A great orator speaks in such a way that others love to listen to him.
Voice modulation and makeover, a well-known term for the professionals working in the field of Journalism and communication, is a pre-requisite if one wishes to enter the world of news broadcasting.
Through this technique, a person can control the pitch and graveness in his voice to present different states of mood – anger, happiness, grief, sorrow, remark, surprise, etc. To educate the students in an extensive way about the benefits of voice modulation and the tips and tricks, a workshop on “Voice Modulation and Phonetics” was organized by the Department of Mass Communication, School of Art, Design & Media Studies, Sharda University. The basic workshop in Voice Overs and Phonetics organized on November 16, 2016, was conducted by the industry expert Manika Gaur. Ms. Manika taught the students how to manipulate their tone and vocals to draw the listeners’ attention towards themselves with an immediate effect. The program that lasted for 6 hours provided wholesome information on correct pronunciation to the students. Phonetics was another interesting feature through which Ms. Manika stressed why it was important to pronounce sounds the right way. The program was specially organized for the students since it was related to their line of interest.
Thinking in a broader view, the proficiency in modulating the voice and delivering talk helps the orators as well as the people from all walks of life.
Communication is a mirror to one’s thoughts. Effective communication ensures that a person is easily understandable. When a person’s tone is flat, there will be monotony amongst his listeners. However, an impeccable speech is the one with a mix of high and low pitches. This way, one can give value to his speech and fascinate the listeners.
