It is an ancient practice to welcome new members of a family and get them accustomed to the core values and rituals. The first year students of any college are like new members of that institution who behold a million dreams in their eyes and await the beginning of a new chapter in the book of their lives. Keeping the trend alive, all the colleges and educational institutes should express their best compliments to those budding minds stepping into the college with high hopes.
In order to gladly welcome its new batch of students, Fresher’s Party 2016 was organized by Sharda University as a small gesture that imbibed the enormous love the new members as students would experience throughout their time spent in the institution. The party was organized by the Cultural Society of Sharda University that whole-heartedly invited the new students who had joined the global family of Sharda University. The event was held at the Central Ground, Sharda University, Greater Noida on September 20, 2016 beginning 4:45 pm.
‘Delhi Times Fresh Face 2016’ contest powered by Oppo was organised for the students to flaunt their looks. First year students from various courses participated enthusiastically in the competition. The event witnessed ramp walking, cultural and western dances, skits, etc. All the participants were back-patted for their splendid performances. The winners were duly awarded and appreciated.
The biggest attraction of the event was the star cast of upcoming musical drama film- Banjo, starring Riteish Deshmukh and Nargis Fakhri who visited the institution and also promoted their forthcoming flick. Both the actors, dressed up in black, exuded immense charm and sophistication. They were welcomed by an excited crowd of the students of Sharda University. While majority of actors release their songs among popular celebrities in 5-Star hotels, the Banjo team decided to launch their new party song, the ‘Banjo Party Song’ amongst the jubilant youth of Sharda University. The duo, along with the students, were enjoying while shaking a leg to the beats of the jazzy song. Riteish interacted with the students and gave them a piece of wise advice, “These are the best days of your lives that you are in right now. So don’t get ahead of yourself and live in the moment. Make the most of college.” Nargis Fakhri’s presence on stage was hailed by vehement cheers. Both the actors wished the first year students good luck for their new academic start.
Overall, the Fresher’s Day Party was full of fun and frolic. It was the first event for the students where they got a big platform to execute their talents. While the faculty and management have high hopes on this new batch, the students are looking forward to make their guardians proud, too. Sharda University hopes that these new faces will toil during their course time in the campus and lay a strong foundation of their career.
