School of Languages and Cultures had organized a One Day National Seminar on ‘From Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies‘ on March 27, 2015. Two guest speakers were invited to form a special panel with an aim to introduce students to the field of Comparative Cultural Studies.

The two distinguished guests were- Dr. T.S. Satyanath (Former Associate Professor, Department of Modern Indian Languages and Literary Studies, University of Delhi) and Dr. Amitava Chakraborthy (Associate Professor, Department of Modern Indian Languages and Literary Studies, University of Delhi). They spoke about the newly emerging trends in this discipline within the global context followed by a discussion in which students from B.A and M.A wholeheartedly participated. The two subsequent sessions comprised of six papers present by students from University of Delhi and faculty members from SOLC, Sharda University.

The literary discussions in the seminar hall and during tea/lunch break were enriching which offered the students an opportunity to explore interesting research possibilities in the areas like Translation Studies, Intertexuality, Cultural Studies, Transmediality, etc. On the whole, the event was a great success owing to the sincere efforts by organizing team, SOLC faculty and student volunteers.
