The School of Architecture and Planning (SAP) of the Sharda University hosted the prestigious National Level Awards for Excellence in Architectural Thesis B. Arch. Level – 2016. It was a joint-event with JK Aya Best Architecture Student of the Year Award by COA, in order to honour the National Winners & National final Runners-up of ‘Best Architectural Thesis Design’ Competition.
Best Architectural Thesis Design at Sharda Universit
Recently, the National-level ‘Best Thesis Design’ Competition was organized at North Zone i.e. Sharda University’s Greater Noida campus for the first time. The competition was an initiative to identify the best architectural thesis design projects of India, submitted by the final year B.Arch. students in the undergraduate and postgraduate courses, each academic year.
Moreover, the competition played a significant role in creating a better appreciation of architectural design concerns. In fact, it helped the students to think and design more for architecture. Furthermore, the competitions a challenge to students’ imaginative thinking. And also, to their conception and creative side.
Eventually, on the second day of the event, the best 10 thesis designs submitted by the final year students of architecture from different colleges were shortlisted by a jury appointed by the National Institute of Advanced Studies in Architecture (NIASA) and Council of Architecture (COA) comprising many prestigious experts from across the country and the winners got the awards at the end of the day.
Finally, among the three National Winners who received a cash prize worth Rs. 75,000 each for the best thesis reports were:
- Kshitij Nipun Shah – Faculty of Architecture, Centre for Environmental Planning & Technology (CEPT) University, Ahmedabad Thesis: Plan Politics and The City: Reimagining the Role of Civil Society Politics in Development Planning Process in Mumbai
- Pavanika T Biradar – School of Architecture, BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore Thesis: Beyond Proxemics in Urban Streets (An Analytical View in Bangalore Metropolitan Area)
- Suyash Deepak Mankame – Faculty of Architecture, Centre for Environmental Planning & Technology (CEPT) University, Ahmedabad Thesis: Urban Transformation: Demonstrating Inclusive Nodal Development by Integrating Urban Village with the City Taking CBD-Belapur, Navi Mumbai as a Case
Let’s Wind it Up
Finally, in the evening, this function was concluded with the prize distribution ceremony where all the National Winners & National final Runners-up of ‘Best Thesis Design’ Competition were given cash prizes and certificates of appreciation. And yes, the open-idea design competition got a very good response. It was a part of National Level Thesis Jury Awards. Here, School of Architecture and Planning showcased 47 Post Graduate and 10 Graduate Preeminent Thesis Designs of students in an open exhibition. This exhibition was a great platform for the student’s creative energies.
