Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is a cleanliness mission led by the honorable Indian Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi. It is a step in the direction of bringing out a constructive change that India has been awaiting since long. The movement has brought people from different backgrounds, religions, sects together to behold the spirit of patriotism towards the motherland and keep the country clean. It would be wrong to associate this Abhiyan merely with the Prime Minister Office (PMO). It is unanimously a common vision of the 1.2 billion population of India. The campaign has been welcomed and wholeheartedly supported by NGOs, common residents, authorities, students and almost every other group of the society.
To give a fillip to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, UGC on the 31st August, 2016 had rolled out a notification urging the Universities across the nation to undertake actions to substantiate their cleanliness missions during Swachh. Complying with the guidelines of the Grants Commission, Sharda University organised ‘Swachh Pakhwada’ on the 16th of September. Students and faculty member from different schools of Sharda University proffered themselves to serve for the occasion.
The event was organized in the Room No 114, Block 4, Sharda University, Greater Noida Campus. Dr Ritu Sharma, Assistant Professor, School of Education was the coordinator and spokesperson for the gathering. The euphoria was evident among the members who attended the meeting which included seminar, slogan writing competition, essay writing competition and talk by faculty members. Enthused participants and contributors shared their thoughts about cleanliness in campus and gave their valuable suggestions.
The social event gave a clear message that the students of Sharda University are dedicated to contribute to such significant initiatives. It is overwhelming to see a good response from young minds that hold the adeptness of changing the society.
