Dr Vivek Kumar Gupta is a seasoned administrator with an exemplary track record in higher education governance, legal compliance, and human resource management. As Registrar & Head of Human Resources at Sharda University, he has been instrumental in spearheading policy reforms, regulatory compliance, and institutional excellence, ensuring the university's continued growth on both national and global platforms.

Holding a PhD in Management, Dr Guptas research focused on “Integrating Virtual Personal Learning Environments with Traditional Management Education Pedagogy.” His academic credentials, complemented by a Masters in Electronics Engineering (specialising in VLSI Design), reflect his technological expertise and strategic leadership in education.

He has further refined his leadership skills through a Management Development Programme (MDP) on Leadership at the prestigious SP Jain Institute of Management & Research, Mumbai, strengthening his strategic decision-making abilities and institutional management expertise.

As the chief custodian of Sharda Universitys legal and regulatory affairs, Dr Gupta ensures full compliance with key statutory bodies, including the Bar Council of India (BCI), University Grants Commission (UGC), National Medical Commission (NMC), Dental Council of India (DCI), Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), Indian Nursing Council (INC), and NAAC accreditation standards.

He has played a pivotal role in drafting progressive policies, aligning Sharda University with international benchmarks in education delivery, faculty development, and institutional governance. As Secretary to the Governing Body, Executive Council, Academic Council, and Planning Board, he contributes to shaping the universitys strategic direction, ensuring a seamless balance between regulatory compliance and academic innovation.

Under Dr Guptas stewardship, Sharda University has emerged as a premier institution, reinforcing its position as a leader in higher education in India. His contributions have been instrumental in achieving NAAC A+ accreditation (2023), a national ranking of 86th in NIRF 2024, and an impressive global standing—59th in India by Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025 and 222nd in South Asia by QS Asia University Rankings 2024. He has also fostered a vibrant research culture, leading to high-impact publications, extramural funding projects, patents, and consultancy initiatives.

Dr Guptas strategic initiatives and leadership have garnered national and international recognition. He was honoured with the "Iconic Leadership in Higher Education 2023" award by the Government of Telangana and received recognition from Kyrgyz State University for his academic contributions. As an Erasmus Mundus Fellow, he has delivered lectures at the University of Dubrovnik, Croatia. His commitment to rethinking HR practices led him to participate in the Isha Foundations Business Conclave, while his leadership acumen was further refined through the Leadership Programme with L&T Edutech (in collaboration with the Education Promotion Society of India - EPSI). Additionally, he successfully completed the Management Development Programme (MDP) on Leadership at SP Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR), Mumbai. His role as Secretary of the Empowered Committee overseeing the formation of Sharda University, Uzbekistan, further demonstrates his expertise in international higher education governance.
